School of Fish discriminates against developmentally disabled people. They will not allow Justice Rodriguez to swim in there pool for Free Swim!
Justice has been swimming since he is 1 year old. His Grandmother, Momma Lil, believes you can not live on Long Island and not be able to swim. He swims every Sunday since for the last 7 years. He has been taught to swim by Saf-T Swim. He swims every other Sunday at the YMCA in Bay Shore and on the alternating Sundays at St. Joseph’s College. He is an extremely strong swimmer and is currently teaching himself to dive.
Jay Rodriguez, Justice’s Dad, originally went to School of Fish and advised the staff that Justice has autism and that we would like to purchase a package of 10- ˝ hour free swim sessions. After the first session, we were asked to come and pick up our money and not to return to the pool. There was no explanation as to why Justice could not swim in the pool. Every day Justice’s school bus passes this establishment and he requests “School of Fish” by name. I have to lie to him and tell him that the pool is dirty and they had to close it. I have tried to call and find out what the problem was and never got a return phone call.
We at Justice 4 Autism have decided to Boycott School of Fish and advise other parents and people with disabilities of this injustice.
